FEBRUARY OGEECHEE AUDUBON MEETING

Bob Churi moved to Coastal Georgia after he retired from Lockheed Martin. Over the past six years, Bob has explored Harris Neck National Wildlife Refuge, the Altamaha River basin, and Sapelo, Jekyll, and St. Simons Islands where he has tried to capture nature in digital photography. Please join the Ogeechee Audubon Society to experience the results of Bob’s efforts. The meeting will be held at the First Presbyterian Church, 520 East Washington Avenue, Savannah on February 15 at 7:00 pm and is free to the public. For further information call Beth Roth at (912) 658-6136.

Get Ready for this Winter's Christmas Bird Counts

The 111th Annual Christmas Bird Count season opens for coastal Georgia with the Harris Neck count in Friday, Dec. 17.  The Savannah area count will be held on Sunday, Jan. 2.  Participants in these counts always have a great time surveying the birds that winter in our area and sharing stories with other birders after the count is over.  Both counts will start at 7:00 a.m. and will run through the afternoon, with "countdown" dinners in the evening at local restaurants.

Dot Bambach will be organizing teams of birders to cover segments of each count circle.  We need drivers and checklist-keepers as well as experienced birders, so plan to set your alarm clock and join us for both events.  Contact Dot at dotbam@bellsouth.net or 912-598-3764 if you would like to participate.
